July 10, The Iran Project � Iran's Police Chief has criticized removing the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from the US and EU blacklist of terrorist groups, during a counter-terrorism conference.

Speaking at Kalkan Project�s Operational Working Group Meeting held in Homa Hotel, Brigadier General�Hossein Ashtari said the MKO was long on the list of terrorist groups of the United States and the European Union but unfortunately, it has been recently removed from the list for some unknown reasons.

The two-day 13th Operational Working Group Meeting on International Counter-Terrorism Mechanism launched in the Iranian capital, Tehran on Monday.

Ashtari stated that terrorism is a major global challenge for�all the countries, calling on the world community to confront the hideous and sinister phenomenon.

Stressing the effective role of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in fighting against terrorist and takfiri groups, he said terrorist acts are now endangering national and international peace and security and the only solution to deal with the ominous phenomena is collective and�global determination.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Iran's Police Chief noted that Iran is a pioneer in the fight against organized crimes, saying in spite of the regional insecurity, the Islamic Republic is a secure country due to high capability of our security system in controlling any disruptive security measure.

The MKO is the most hated terrorist group among the Iranians because of its dark history of assassinations and bombings and for siding with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in his eight-year war against Iran in the 1980s.

Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist assaults since the victory of Iran�s 1979 Islamic Revolution, about 12,000 have fallen victim to MKO�s acts of terror.
