Politicizing oil deals harms national interests: Official

Shana-- A senior Iranian oil official cautioned against politicization of oil deals because it would be harmful to the country's interests.

According to IRNA, Amir Hossein Zamaninia, deputy petroleum minister in international affairs and trading, said, "We ought to be concerned about showing foreign investors a wholesome, safe image of Iran and fueling political and partisan debates on whether oil deal will be materialized or not would only dent the country's national interests."

He said the required decisions regarding enforcement of the newly-devised deals have already been made and the contracts will be ready for signature in the near future.

The official also warned against the downward growth in demand for fossil fuels in a matter of 20 to 25 years, adding the resources will not be as valuable as they are today by then.
"We have only 20 to 25 years to exploit our resources and after that hydrocarbon resources will lose their place in the world's energy mix," he added.
