Renewing Iran sanctions relief Trump's 1st commitment

MNA Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said US president has the authority to extend suspension of Iran's nuclear sanctions for four months and Trump's decision was his first commitment.

Pointing to his meeting with members of Nuclear Committee of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on Wednesday, Araghchi said the body is preparing its 6-month report of JCPOA implementation to the Parliament; "during the meetings we try to answer questions and ambiguities of MPs on the implementation of the deal to provide them with factual information, based on which they would present a comprehensive, faultless and updated report to the Parliament" he said.

So far, he noted, Iran has imported 360 tonnes of concentrated uranium, also known as yellowcake, after the implementation of the landmark nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was signed in July 2015.

"Iran's strategic import of yellowcake increased, for the first time after the Islamic Revolution," he added.

Touching upon the duration ofthe recent suspension of Iran's nuclear sanctions by Trump's administration, Araghchi said, "the rules of US Congress have determined how to veto a decision; usually the law allows the president to prevent the continuation of sanctions for 4 or 6 months."

About 2 months later, is the time to start Trump's extendng sanctions relief; President of US has the authority to extend it for 6 months; he has been committed to its obligations under JCPOA.
