IRNA � The United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Gary Lewis in a message on Sunday congratulated the Iranian nation on successful holding of the 12th presidential election.


�Congratulations to people and gov't of Iran on a successful election. UN looks forward to expanding cooperation for a better future,� Lewis wrote on his tweet account.

Incumbent President Hassan Rouhani won a landslide victory in the elections by garnering over 23.4 million of votes (57%) from more than 41 million ballots cast on May 19.
