Zarif ends visit to Georgia

IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at the end of his one-day visit to Georgia and holding talks with senior officials of the country departed Tbilisi for Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Tuesday afternoon.

Zarif arrived in Tbilisi on Monday evening and this morning held talks with his Georgian counterpart Mikhail Janelidze on bilateral relations and ways to expand ties.

During his one-day stay in Tbilisi, Zarif met and discussed issues of mutual interests with President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Gakharia, participating in joint economic meeting, attending launch banquette and paying tribute to the National Hero.

Development of relations between Iran and Georgia in different fields of trade, economy, banking, agriculture, prisoners exchange and transit corridor between the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea were among issues discussed.

Georgia has good relations with European Union and intends to join the union.

Zarif is visiting three countries of Turkmenistan, Georgia and Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of his counterparts and on occasion of the 25th independence anniversary of these three countries.

An economic and industrial delegation from both public and private sectors are accompanying the minister during this tour.

Zarif met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and a number of senior officials of Turkmenistan on Monday and discussed development of bilateral ties with them.
