Bahrain FM: Political talks with Iran to continue

IRNA - Bahrain Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Persian Gulf Cooperation Council had been exchanging messages with the Islamic Republic of Iran through Kuwait, and urged to continue the political dialogue.

Bahrain supports the attempts done by Kuwait's Emir with regard to joint consultations with Iran, and the dialogue will continue, Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa who was visiting Kuwait told reporters on Sunday.

Expressing hope that the talks would lead to positive results, the Bahraini minister added that a report on the latest developments in ties with Tehran would be presented in the coming Persian Gulf summit of Arab states.

Following continuous political talks and written messages exchanged between Iran and Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope that Tehran-Manama talks would commence soon.

Kuwait Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Al-Jarallah, welcoming recent Iranian President Hassan Rouhanis visit to the country, said that the meeting paved the way for holding talks between Iran and the Persian Gulf Arab countries. He also asserted that this was also stipulated in a recent message from Kuwaits Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad to President Rouhani.

President Rouhani, as a response to the official invitation from the Kuwaits Emir, visited the country in mid February this year.

Experts believe that using joint political and economic capacities, convergence in regional and international stances, boosting regional peace, stability and security, and the development and growth of Islamic countries, are the main factors that have doubled the importance of strategic cooperation between Iran and Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
