Moscow: Iran, Russia, Syria agree on acting against terrorism

IRNA Iranian, Russian, and Syrian foreign ministers in the trilateral meeting held in Moscow on Friday agreed on joint actions against anti-Syria terrorism.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in a statement released on Friday evening said Iranian, Russian, and Syrian foreign ministers examined the military-political conditions in Syria and around it after the US missile attack on the Syrian air base.

The statement says that the three countries called for a thorough and detailed investigation into the chemical incident in Khan Shaykhun, Syria, and also condemned the April 7th US missile attack on the Syrian air base that took place without offering any evidence to the UN Security Council as a flagrant violation of international laws.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the three attendees expressed their concerns about increased activities of al-Nosra Front simultaneous with the US provocative military action.

This statement adds Iranian, Russian, and Syrian foreign ministers called for taking steps to increase trilateral collaborations in order to eliminate international terrorism in Syria, help establish peace there and also prevent realization of Iraq or Libya scenarios for destroying the Syrian government by foreign forces.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in the statement that the Iranian and Russia foreign ministers, Zarif and Lavrov, stressed their countries principled support for sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Syria.

The participants of the trilateral meeting emphasized on solving the Syrian crisis using political and diplomatic ways through all-out negotiations with the attendance of opposition groups according to UN Security Council resolution 2254.

In the end, they emphasized that Iranian, Russian, and Syrian foreign ministers demand continuation of the constructive Syrian Talks in Astana, Kyrgyzstan, and intra-Syrian talks in Geneva under the supervision of the United Nations.

The three ministers also hold bilateral meeting to examine the regions situation and anti-terrorism convergence.
