UN Security Council meeting ends with casting no vote

IRNA The emergency meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council ended on Wednesday without voting for the Western countries plan to condemn Syria for its alleged use of chemical weapons in Khan Shaykhun near Idleb.


According to foreign media, France, Britain and US has presented a draft resolution trying to accuse Syria of using chemical weapons in Khan Shaykhun region in Idleb in north of Syria.

A senior UN official for disarmament affairs has said that as many details about the issue are not fully known yet, the new information continues to find those who were involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, Russias Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Vladimir Safronkov has noted that his country sees no need to approve the anti-Syria resolution, stressing the importance of an apolitical and transparent research on the chemical attack on Khan Shaykhun.

He further stressed that use of chemical weapons by any sides are unacceptable.

In mid-March, 2011, the crisis started in Syria. Since then, the Syrian government has been fighting terrorist groups who have caused the ongoing crisis in Syria.
