MNA � Iranian Deputy FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi met and discussed with Japanese counterpart Nobuo Kishi in Jakarta, on the sidelines of the first summit of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

During the meeting held on Tuesday, the two sides examined the latest status of bilateral ties and economic cooperation after the implementation of JCPOA.

Araghchi and Nobuo Kishi explored the backgrounds of development of economic relations in the fields of energy, banking and investment, and announced Iran and Japan's interest�in expanding relations and removing barriers.

Deputy foreign ministers also exchanged views on the latest situation of the Middle East and East Asia, stressing the need to maintain peace and stability in these two important regions of Asia.

Araghchi referred to the cooperation of Iran, Russia and Turkey to establish and ensure a ceasefire in Syria, and said �approval of the measure�by the UN Security Council indicates that the international community acknowledges the constructive role of Iran in the region.�

He said Iran's principled policy is to maintain peace and stability in the Persian Gulf region and the Middle East and the country is ready to cooperate with countries in the region and play a key role in reducing tensions and resolving disputes.

Touching upon JCPOA, Araghchi said the nuclear deal is a multilateral agreement and all parties have promised to be committed to the agreement and implement it in a constructive atmosphere with a good will; �any move or action contrary to the constructive spirit of JCPOA is not acceptable,� he noted.

Nobuo Kishi, for his part, once again stressed that his country supports the JCPOA, describing the agreement as a means to strengthen regional and international peace and stability.

He highly regarded the interest of Japanese companies and banks to boost economic cooperation with Iran, adding the Japanese government favors continuation and expansion of such�collaborations.
