UNHCR official: Irans measures for refugees exemplary

IRNA Representative for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Tehran Sivanka Dana Pala said here on Monday that Irans measures for refugees exemplary.


He made the remarks in closing ceremony for the 4th National Festival on Afghanistan studies in Yazd.

Dana Pala said that education of Afghan pupils in Iran and exempting them to pay tuition is among the most important measures of Iran concerning refugees.

He reminded health insurance coverage for refugees, and said that the third phase of the insurance for refugees will be executed in Iran soon.

Awareness of youngsters and new generation of refugees with their homeland culture is one of the most important goals of the festival.

Afghanistan Ambassador to Iran Nasir Ahmad Noor said there are more than 3 million Afghan refugees living in Iran.

He said the two countries have commonalties on history, culture and civilization, and added that Iranian services for refugees is unique, which shows their feeling of responsibilities and kindness.

The 4th national Festival on Afghanistan Studies held meetings for 3-day in Yazd.
