IRNA - Pakistani Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday left for a two-day official visit to Tehran to hold talks with the Iranian officials to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in diverse fields.


Secretary Defense, Lt General (Retd) Zameer-Ul-Hassan Shah and Secretary Water and Power Younus Dagha are also accompanying the Pakistani adviser in the visit.

During his stay in Tehran Sartaj Aziz will hold important discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other senior Iranian officials.

In the meetings, bilateral relations, cooperation in diverse fields, upcoming ECO heads of state summit in Islamabad and current security situation of the region would be discussed.

Pakistani Secretary Defense, Lt General (Retd) Zameer-Ul-Hassan Shah would hold meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan with an aim to strengthen bilateral relations.

Pakistani Secretary Water and Power Younus Dagha during the visit would also meet Iran�s Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian to boost cooperation between the two countries in energy sector.

It is pertinent to mention that currently Iran is exporting 104 MW of electricity to Pakistan and is ready to increase it further to 3000 MW.

The signing of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and 5+1 has opened new avenues of cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
