IRNA � Body of the deceased Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was laid to rest Tuesday at the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic late Imam Khomeini in south of Tehran.


Hours ago in Tehran University, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei led the mass prayers for the body of the deceased ayatollah and then he was taken to his burial site after a glorious funeral procession which was attended by hundreds of thousands of mourning people.

A special ceremony will be hosted by the Supreme Leader on Wednesday in the memory of the late Ayatollah Rafsanjani.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani died on January 8 (Sunday) at the age of 82 due to a heart attack in a Tehran hospital.
