IRNA � Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi on Wednesday urged the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council to avoid repetition of unfounded charges against Iran and interference in Iranian domestic affairs and not to fan flames of sectarian and religious divide.


Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Greater and Lesser Tunbs are inseparable parts of Iran's soil, he said adding that repetition of unfounded allegations leave no impacts on the country's territorial integrity and Iran's governance over the islands.

Iran's policy is based on good neighborly, mutual respect and non-interference in domestic affairs of other countries and expects the PGCC to avoid lodging unfounded allegations and interference in Iranian domestic affairs such as stirring up religious and sectarian divide, he said.

It is very regrettable that these countries instead of taking advantage of the capabilities of conventions and international and regional organizations to bolster stability and security and avoid escalation, they attempt to weaken relations with Iran, he said.

It goes without saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to respond to such unfounded allegations at international organizations in line with International Law and regulations, he said.

It is regretful that Saudi Arabia instead of being accountable to massacring of hundreds of Haj pilgrims in Mina still tries to misuse the holy shrines to attain its political goals, he said.

The PGCC instead of putting the blames on others should pay attention to the realities such as continued suppression and violation of human rights in Bahrain and urge the Bahraini government to heed the political resolve of the people and go ahead with national reconciliation, Qasemi said.

It is necessary that the Middle East region must be cleared from weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons, he said, adding that recent statement issued by the PGCC they got a wrong understanding about Iran's nuclear deal as well as Iranian missile defense capabilities.
