IRGC commander warns of soft threats

Tasnim Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari referred to soft threats as the most dangerous type of perils Iran is facing, saying that military threats have turned into opportunities for the country.

The soft cultural, political, economic and social threats are the most dangerous threats to the Islamic Revolution, the IRGC commander said at a conference in the northern city of Sari on Saturday.

Highlighting the IRGCs serious resolve to safeguard the revolution, Major General Jafari said the country has already turned military threats into opportunities, during an 8-year war imposed by Iraq in the 1980s.

The commander further lauded the security in Iran, saying even the anti-revolutionary and opposition forces inside Iran appear to have lost any hope of upsetting security in the country.

In recent years, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has repeatedly raised the alarm at the effects of an extensive soft war the enemies have waged against Iran, saying one of the main objectives is to change the religious and political beliefs of people, particularly the youth.

Soft war is a term used to refer to the cultural invasion and soft intelligence tactics used by foreign countries deemed hostile toward Iran.
