Rouhani: Tehran, Beijing should seize post-JCPOA opportunity to broaden ties

Bangkok, Oct 9, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday called for full implementation of the agreements already reached can help broaden Tehran-Beijing strategic relations.

Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Chinese Vice President t Li Yuanchao in the second Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) on Sunday.

President Rouhani said Iran has always attached importance to expansion of relations with China and Tehran is eager to make use of post-JCPOA opportunity to broaden strategic relations.

Tehran welcomes Beijing investments in oil, gas, transport and technological know-how and the two sides can deepen mutual scientific and cultural cooperation, President Rouhani said.

Silk Road and its revitalization is of prime importance to develop economic ties among regional countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to play historical role to this end, Rouhani said.

President Rouhani expressed deep concern about deterioration of humanitarian situation in the Middle East, saying that China can help restore peace and stability to the region and deliver humanitarian relief aid to war-stricken people in Yemen and Syria.

The Chinese vice president said for his part that Tehran and Beijing have resumed new chapter of relations and China welcomes expansion of all-out cooperation with Iran.

Level of Tehran-Beijing ties have been enhanced and implementation of the agreements already signed are in progress, he said.

Post-JCPOA is regarded as a suitable opportunity to initiate new round of relations between Tehran and Beijing and China is ready to enhance current level of strategic relations with Ir4an.

He vowed to encourage the Chinese financial institutes to broaden economic cooperation with Iran.
