Supreme Leader urges maintaining martyrs' memories

Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has recently said that safeguarding memories of the country's martyrs is a duty for all and a must to counter enemies plots.

Supreme Leader made the remakes in a recent meeting with officials of a local body in charge of preserving martyrs memories in the northeastern province of Northern Khorasan and southeastern province of Kohkiloyeh and Boyerahmad. The meeting was held in Tehran.

Ayatollah Khamenei underscored that remembering martyrs would foil the enemies plots against the country and preserve the spirit of resistance among the Iranian nation.

The Leader also warned against enemies agenda to wage a soft and covered war on the country aimed at distancing nation from Jihad (holy war) and resistance, making people oblivious to the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution and seizing the mental and spiritual atmospheres of the country.'

'Iranians have disappointed world powers in reaching many of their goals about Iran,' Ayatollah Khamenei said adding that dominant powers are 'to frustrate the Iranian nation through different means, making massive propaganda, using mercenary speakers and by imposing economic, political and security pressures against the country.'
Appreciating the Iranian nation for their resistance against enemies, the Leader referred to the country's martyrs as 'summits of the Islamic ethics' and 'role models for the young generation,' Ayatollah Khamenei urged Iranian artists to depict the real image of martyrs in different ways.

Emphasizing the importance of explaining and describing different aspects of eight years of the imposed war against Iran (1980-1988), Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that the era of 'Sacred Defense' (A term used in Iran to refer to the eight-year imposed war against the country) was an 'international war against Islam and the late founder of Iran's Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini.

'The poor Saddam Hussein (executed dictator of Iraq) was supported by a massive front. The Iranian youth in the present time have to know who had saved them from that disaster and how they lived.'
