IAEA Board of Governors opens seasonal meeting in Vienna

Vienna, Sept 19, IRNA - The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Monday kicked off its seasonal meeting in the Austrian capital chaired by IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano.

During the meeting, the issues regarding the endorsement of Iranian nuclear issues would be discussed based on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution 2231.

The 35-member group is to discuss actions to bolster international nuclear cooperation, safe shipment of nuclear waste, safe construction of nuclear power plants, nuclear security, boosting IAEA activities in the field of nuclear sciences, technological know-how and practical plans.

Verification of North Korea and Syria nuclear activities as well as employment of the IAEA Safeguard Agreement in the Middle East region are among other major topics of the IAEA board discussions.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano has recently submitted his five-page report on implementation of JCPOA to the agency's member states.

Amano's report is to be reviewed by the IAEA Board of Governor today.
The report indicates that Iran has not breached its commitments based on the JCPOA and kept its low-grade uranium production below 300 kilograms.
