TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani praised the country�s athletes who took part in the Rio Olympic Games for bringing glory to the country and displaying Iranian self-confidence and moral values.

In a message on Wednesday, President Rouhani praised all the Iranians attending the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, including the athletes, coaches and referees.

He also appreciated the country�s heroes for winning the hearts of Iranian people despite cases of unfair refereeing.

The president also hailed 18-year-old taekwondo player Kimia Alizadeh as a young lady who became the symbol of the presence of Iranian women in the games.

Alizadeh won the bronze medal in the -57kg class of taekwondo competitions, becoming the first Iranian woman to win an Olympic medal.

Iran finished 25th in Rio 2016 Olympics with 8 medals (three gold, one silver and four bronze).
