Tehran, June 28, IRNA - Iran's Minister of Justice Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi said here on Tuesday that the number of inmates in Iran declined by 12.5 percent during the past Iranian calendar year, ended March 19,2016.


Speaking in a local gathering, Pour-Mohammadi put the number of prisoners last year at 478,819, adding the figure showed a decline of 70,000 compared to the two years before.

He also put the number of the inmates who were released from prisons at 228,265 people last year.
