In addition to the dust issue, fire in forests was discussed in the meeting.

Dust coming from Iraq and Syria deserts disturbed daily life in western and southwestern parts of Iran cancelling flights at Abadan's international airport on June 17.

In addition to flights cancellation, dust storms have also prompted health warnings and resulted in closed schools and offices in some areas.

The new wave of storms began last Thursday, but the authorities expect the situation to improve in the coming days.

Iraq has long suffered periodic, blinding sandstorms, but several years of drought have aggravated the situation there.
