Iran, Greece sign document on scientific cooperation

Tehran, May 18, IRNA Iran and Greece signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday to expand their cooperation on science and technology.


The visiting Greek Foreign Ministrys Secretary General for International and Economic Relations Giorgos Tsipras and Iran's Vice President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari signed the MoU.

The MoU was originally drafted during the visit to Iran last year (Iranian Calendar) by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

Based on the document, Tehran and Athens will boost cooperation in areas of nanotechnology, biotechnology, marine science and technology, establishment of technological parks as well as holding seminars, conferences and joint workshops.

The atmosphere for cooperation between Tehran and Athens is positive, the Iranian vice president said.

Expressing hope for furthering of trade ties between Iran and Greece, Sattari urged more engagement between two countries scientific and research centers.

Ali Birang an official affiliated to the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology expressed satisfaction with formation of joint Iran-Greek science and technology taskforce and praised high presence of Greek companies in Iran's INOTEX 2016 exhibition.

With the growth in the presence of foreign technological and innovative companies in Iran, the 5th International Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INOTEX) will be held on 22-25 May 2016 in Tehran International fairground.
