The closing ceremony of the Iranian Shahrzad series was held in Tehran's Milad Tower on Sunday with the Iranian people, the series cast as well as the countrys artistic and political figures in attendance.
During the ceremony, the countrys prominent artistic and political figures awarded the statue of love and hope to Shahrzads director and actors.
Directed by Hasan Fathi and written jointly with playwright and university professor Naghmeh Samini. Shahrzad is centered on a love story between two university students and narrated in a historical setting. The story takes place in the early 1950s, amid one of the most important events in the Middle East at that time: the nationalization of Irans oil industry. The Aug. 19, 1953, coup detat that ousted then-Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh is also highlighted, raising additional interest among Iranians.

The series also portrayed the repression that took place at the hands of the shahs forces, with journalists and intellectuals summoned, intimidated or jailed arbitrarily and newspaper licences revoked, showing Pahlavi's oppressive tyranny and its impacts on people's ordinary life.
The series, the most expensive production of its kind, drew huge audiences in the country and made people turn their backs on illegal satellite channels.
Moreover, it will reportedly take part at the European Film Market (EFM), which opened on February 11 as part of the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.
