Iran jails perpetrators of January attacks on Saudi embassy in Tehran

Iranian authorities have imprisoned perpetrators of the attacks on the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Tehran, Culture Minister Ali Jannati said.





MOSCOW (Sputnik) Riyadh severed its diplomatic ties withTehran followingthe attacks.
"Perpetrators who stormed the embassy were arrested and are now inprison Tehran wants tofind reasonable and balanced relations based onmultilateral cooperation withthe countries ofthe region," Jannati said asquoted bythe Fars news agency and local media onSaturday.




The minister stressed that the attack was condemned byTehran "and the Iranian regime will hold accountable all sides involved inthis incident."

Iran and Saudi Arabia broke offdiplomatic ties earlier this year afteran outraged Iranian mob attacked the Saudi Embassy inTehran followingRiyadhs decision toexecute a prominent Shiite cleric. Bahrain, Sudan, Somalia, Comoros and Djibouti insolidarity withRiyadh also severed relations withIran. Kuwait and Qatar decided topull outtheir ambassadors toIran, while the United Arab Emirates downgraded the level ofdiplomatic relations withTehran.
