Iran denies presence of expert in North Korea nuclear test
Irans Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has rejected media claims about the presence of an Iranian expert at the site of North Koreas recent nuclear test.
The source of the report is not valid, Mehmanparast said during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.
Diplomats: Iran starts upgrade of nuclear site
In a disheartening signal to world powers at upcoming Iran talks, Tehran has started installing high-tech machines at its main uranium enrichment site that are capable of accelerating production of reactor fuel and with further upgrading the core of nuclear warheads, diplomats said Wednesday.
Iran already announced last week that it had begun mounting the new enriching centrifuges, but one diplomat said at the time that the announcement was premature with only a small number on site and not yet installed.
Iran to unveil new military achievements in near future
Iran Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic plans to showcase its new indigenous missiles and other military products, including new bombs, in the near future.
In the near future, air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, bombs and other products of the [Iranian] Defense Ministry will be unveiled, Vahidi told reporters on the sidelines of a Thursday ceremony.
Iran imports luxury cars by way of disputed island
An Iranian newspaper says at least 500 Porsche cars have been imported by way of a Persian Gulf island that is also claimed by the United Arab Emirates.
Thursdays report by the Javan daily quotes lawmaker Amir Khojasteh as saying its unclear who the importer was or why the island of Abu Musa was used as the route to bring the vehicles into Iran.
Pakistan risks sanctions over Iran gas deal
Pakistan risks imposition of stringent US and UN sanctions if proposed Iran-Pakistan pipeline deal goes through, Wall Street Journal says in a report.
Washington has made it clear that it will impose economic sanctions on Islamabad if it begins to buy gas from Iran. Besides, the UN mandated sanctions on any trade with the oil-rich country,the newspaper said.
Wrestlers to protest Olympic ruling to drop sport in Tehran
Wrestlers from the worlds top wrestling nations plan to lie on their mats Thursday in Tehran in a unique show of unity to protest a decision by the International Olympic Committee to drop wrestling from the 2020 games.
Csaba Hegedus, a senior official with the international wrestling federation, announced the decision at a meeting attended by officials from the worlds top wrestling countries late Wednesday in Tehran.
