Pakistani fleet arrives at Irans Southern port

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Two warships of the Pakistani Navy docked at Irans southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday for a visit that will also include joint naval exercises.

The two warships will stay there for four days. Servicemen on board the Pakistani vessels are also going to visit the Iranian Navys training centers and equipment in the southern port.

On the final day of their stay in Iran, the Pakistanis are planned to hold joint naval exercises with Iranian naval forces.

Pakistans embassy in Tehran had announced earlier that the visiting fleet is under the command of Mohammad Shuaib, commander of the Pakistani Navys mine-laying unit.

The visit is a sign of close and brotherly ties between the two Muslim nations, conveys the message of regional peace and solidarity, and is meant to promote bilateral cooperation, the embassy had noted.

Iranian and Pakistani forces have already held a number of joint naval drills in Irans southern waters.
