Tehran, Feb 3, IRNA- Statistical Center of Iran announced that the population of Iran hit 79 million people on February second at 21:34:30.

The General Director of Population and Immigration Statistics and Information of Iran National Organization for Civil Registration, Ali Akbar Mahzoon said that population had 4.5 percent growth in the first three quarters of the current Iranian Year ending in March 19.

He also said that 180 births per hour were registered in nine months, approximately 1.166m, showing a 4.5 percent growth compared to previous year.

Referring to the death rate he said that 277,914 deaths have been registered in nine months.
