The new gear is a portable L-band radar system, a tactical radar that is employed in electronic warfare.
According to General Mousavi, spokesman for the drill, the new system is the first L-band radar mounted on a portable tactical station.
It is capable of detecting all moves above and below the water in a range of 150 kilometers, he added.
The commander said that efforts are underway to extend the range of the radar to more than 400 km.
He also noted that a broad range of sea-based X-band and S-band radars have been installed on the Navys different watercraft, some of which have been tested for the first time during the war game.
Code-named Velayat 94, the drills cover an area of around 3 million square kilometers, stretching from east of the strategic Strait of Hormuz to the northern parts of the Indian Ocean, known as the 10-degrees latitude.
Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.
Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
