TEHRAN (Tasnim) � Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili praised major strides taken by the Iranian experts toward self-sufficiency in the area of defense, saying the air defense base is �moving forward� in manufacturing weapons and military equipment.
�Regarding weapons and equipment, the (Khatam al-Anbia) Air Defense Base is benefitting from domestic and local capabilities,� Brigadier General Esmaili said in a speech in the northern province of Semnan on Monday.

�With the help of God, the base is moving forward in this area (homegrown weapons and military equipment),� he added.

The commander further lauded the spirit of the Iranian armed forces, saying that the country�s main asset is its faithful and devoted youths.

The Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iran has already made it clear that its military might poses no threat to the regional countries, saying that the Islamic Republic�s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
