Austrian FM calls for Iranian partnership in next Syrian peace talks

Vienna, Oct 31, IRNA Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz on Saturday hailed Iran crucial role in peace talks held in Vienna on Friday for, calling for Iranian partnership in next Syrian peace talks slated for mid-November.


In an interview with the ZIB Television on Syrian peace talks held in Vienna, in view of Iran's presence in the session, it was ended with a closing statement.
Simultaneous presence of Iran and Saudi Arabia and inviting Iran to the event revealed the two sides' willingness to resolve Syrian crisis, he said.
Asked about Bashar Assad's removal or reinstatement, he said that negotiating countries did not reach a result in the field, but according to the closing statement of the meeting, the Syrian nation themselves should decide their own destiny.
Kurz further noted that the significant point is settlement of the Syrian crisis and all diplomatic efforts should be accelerated to end the war in Syria.
The peace talks on Syria was held on Friday in presence of foreign ministers of Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Russia, the US, France, Britain, Germany, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt and representative of UN secretary general Staffan de Mistura and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini as well as Chinese deputy foreign minister.
Five years of terrorist campaign against the Syrian government deteriorated humanitarian crisis in Syria. The Vienna peace talks brought together the players around a single table with parallel stances, further developments are expected to be witnessed to make peace in Syria, set up truce and hold democratic election under the auspices of the United Nations
