SCO members welcome Iran's offers against terrorism

Tehran, April 15, IRNA - Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members welcomed Iran's suggestions against terrorism, a senior security official said on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival from a two-day trip to Moscow, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said that Iran's offers for confronting terrorists based on domestic capabilities was hailed by the SCO member states.

The ground has been paved for the delivery of the advanced S300 missiles systems to Iran and this is a good sign for boost of defensive and security cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, he added.

Shamkhani had said Interfax on Tuesday that the Russian S300 air defense missile systems can be delivered to Iran in the next 8 months.

The Kremlin's press service announced on Monday that Vladimir Putin has removed the ban on the delivery of the missile shield to Iran.

In response, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said, 'The decree came as an interpretation of the will of the two countries' political leaders to develop and promote cooperation in all fields'.

Putin's decision was announced hours after relevant reports said the Kremlin also plans to supply China with the advanced S-400 air defense system.

After negotiators from Iran, the United States and other world powers agreed on April 2 to a framework for a final agreement on Tehrans nuclear program, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that a UN arms embargo against Iran should also go.
