The Iranian foreign minister has urged an immediate stop to the ongoing Saudi military attack on Yemen, saying the crisis in the Arab country cannot be settled�through military means.

�The past experiences show that the consequences of the military intervention�in Yemen will become part of the problems,� Mohammad Javad Zarif�said in a meeting with Pakistani army chief General General Raheel Sharif on Thursday.

The visiting Iranian�minister�s meeting with the influential Pakistani commander�is seen as significant in view of the current crisis in Yemen, especially given that Saudi Arabia is pushing Pakistan to join its ranks in the aggression against�the Arab country.

During his visit to Pakistan, the top Iranian diplomat is said to have urged the Pakistani official against joining the conflict.

Zarif, who arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for a two-day visit, earlier said that Tehran will use everything at�its disposal to press an�end to the aggression on Yemen.

�We are ready to use the�influence that every player has in order to have an immediate ceasefire in Yemen followed by humanitarian assistance to the people of Yemen�,� Zarif said after a meeting with�Pakistani Prime Minister's Adviser for Political and Security Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday.

Nearly 450 people have been killed and some 1,700 others wounded since Saudi Arabia launched its unlawful military aggression against Yemen on March 26. Riyadh�s attack, which was launched without a UN mandate, is meant to undermine the Ansarullah movement and restore power to the country�s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

Ansarullah fighters took over state matters in January, citing inability of the Hadi administration to properly run the affairs of the country and contain terror and corruption.
