Nuclear deal in interest of all regional states: Karzai

Kabul, April 4, IRNA The nuclear deal between Iran and world powers is in the interest of all regional states, former Afghan president Hamid Karzai said in a statement released on Saturday.

The Iran-G5+1 was a big step towards decrease of tensions in the region and will boost economic cooperation between regional states, he added.

The statement said that the agreement is in the interest of all regional states including Afghanistan.

Iran and Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) started their new round of talks in Lausanne, Switzerland, last week to narrow their differences over Tehran's nuclear energy program ahead of a July 1 deadline.

After nine days of hard work, the seven nations reached an understanding which laid the ground for them to start drafting the final nuclear deal.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on April 2 that according to the agreement reached between Iran and the six world powers, all the US, EU and UN Security Council sanctions against Iran will be lifted under the final deal.

'Our decision today that will be the agreed base for the final text of the Joint Plan of Action (the final deal) is of vital importance,' Zarif said reading out a joint statement at a press conference with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday.

'Now we can start drafting the final agreement and its annexations by relying on the solutions achieved in the last few days,' he said after eight days of marathon talks with negotiators from the six world powers.
