TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Interior Ministry Spokesman Hossein Ali Amiri announced on Monday that members of several terrorist groups and outlaws have given up fight and turned themselves over to security forces in the past few days.

"As a result of the proper actions taken by the Iranian security officials, we have come to witness members

of anti-revolutionary (terrorist) grouplets and outlaws turn themselves over in the Western and Southern parts of the country, including Kermanshah, Kurdistan and Sistan and Balouchestan provinces, in the past week," Amiri told reporters in a press conference in Tehran on Monday.

The successful operations of the security forces led to discovering the terrorists' hideouts and their capture in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, he added.

The Iranian security and intelligence forces announced in February that they had identified and arrested members of a terrorist group in Sistan and Balouchestan.

Amiri underlined that the military forces also confiscated large caches of weapons and bombs from the outlaws and terrorists.

He further added that Iranian police, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Iran's Intelligence Ministry were involved in the said anti-terrorism operations.

Also last month, Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alavi announced that Iranian security forces disbanded a terrorist cell in Sistan and Balouchestan province.

"In a complicated operation and in close cooperation with people in Sistan and Balouchestan region on February 5 and February 11, we succeeded in identifying and disbanding a part of a terrorist group which sought to embark on sabotage attacks," Alavi told reporters.

He said that the IRGC, the law enforcement police and the intelligence forces cooperated in the operation which also led to the discovering of 350kg of explosives.

Alavi added that the arrested members of the terrorist group had confessed to killing a number of teachers in Sistan and Balouchestan province, saying that the group has also embarked on planting roadside bombs.
