Spokesman for the Iranian Interior Ministry Hossein Ali Amiri[/caption]TEHRAN (FNA)- Spokesman for the Iranian Interior Ministry Hossein Ali Amiri said on Wednesday that the country's security and intelligence forces have identified and arrested members of a terrorist group in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.
Ali Amiri underlined that the military forces also confiscated amounts of weapons and bombs from the bandits.
He further added that Iranian police, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Iran's Intelligence Ministry were involved in the said anti-terrorism operations.
There are no further details available about the arrested terrorists.
On Saturday, Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alavi announced that Iranian security forces disbanded a terrorist cell in Sistan and Balouchestan province.
"In a complicated operation and in close cooperation with people in Sistan and Balouchestan region on February 5 and February 11, we succeeded in identifying and disbanding a part of a terrorist group which sought to embark on sabotage attacks," Alavi told reporters.
He said that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the law enforcement police and the intelligence forces cooperated in the operation which also led to the discovering of 350kg of explosives.
Alavi added that the arrested members of the terrorist group have already confessed to killing a number of teachers in Sistan and Balouchestan province, saying that the group has also embarked on planting roadside bombs.
Jeish al-Adl is responsible for several terrorist attacks in Iran, specially in the Southeastern bordering areas.
14 Iranian border guards were killed and 6 more were injured during the terrorist attack by outlaws affiliated to Jeish al-Adl terrorist group in Saravan border region in in October 2013.
Right after the attack, Vice-Chairman of the Iranian Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour cautioned Pakistan to do its best to arrest the outlaws who killed the 14 Iranian border guards in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.
If Pakistan does not fulfill its legal duties and obligations with regard to the Saravan incident, we reserve the right for our security and military forces to chase the outlaws inside Pakistan, Haqiqatpour said.
The prominent lawmaker also called on Iranian foreign and interior ministries to pressure Pakistan to fulfill its legal duties.
Also after the attack, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in a statement vowed to take action against terrorists after a group of outlaws killed 14 Iranian border guards in a cross-border attack in Saravan.
Under the present crucial juncture that the Islamic establishment is going through a sensitive historical juncture and is trying to gain a major achievement in area of nuclear talks strategic achievement, terrorist actions under the command and support of the spy agencies of the arrogant and colonial powers will not be able to harm the sincere and determined will of the Iranian nation, parts of IRGC statement read.
The Sirkan (in Saravan of Sistan and Baluchestan) crime should remind the alleged advocates of global terrorism and those interested in establishing ties with the Islamic Republic that the Iranian nation has never been unaware of the masterminds of plots who direct terrorist acts by the counterrevolutionary forces against it and it will consider it in its strategic calculations through monitoring and realistic analysis, the statement added.
The statement further reminded the positive security measures taken by the IRGC in the last several years in Sistan and Balouchestan, which could improve the security conditions in the area, and said, "Foes and enemies of the Islamic Revolution should rest assured that such attacks can never harm the unity and solidarity of the ruling system and the people in Southeastern Iran, and would rather strengthen their unity."
"Defenders of the Islamic Revolution and borders of the country will continue combating the anti-revolutionaries, outlaws and aggressive terrorists decisively and powerfully in future," the IRGC underlined in its statement.
The terrorists who have reportedly been members of the outlawed Jeish Al-Adl radical Sunni Wahhabi movement fled into Pakistan after the operation in Sistan and Balouchestan province.
