Secretary of Iran's Health Tourism Strategic Council Mohammad Panahi[/caption]TEHRAN (ISNA)- Irans medical tourism revenues totaled $1.2 billion over the last Iranian calendar year (which started on March 21, 2013), said Secretary of Iran's Health Tourism Strategic Council Mohammad Panahi.
Iran has formed a health tourism consortium along with 40 other countries which can bring 7 billion dollars revenue for Iran over the next three years, he said, speaking in a tourism seminar.
Iranian Deputy Health Minister Mohammad Khoda-Doust, taking part in the seminar, referred to Irans traditional medicine potentials and mineral water sources, and said that the country plans to form a health village with the aim of developing tourism.
Tourists from Germany, Russia, Switzerland, Denmark, Britain, Australia, Spain, Singapore and Turkey have already arrived in Iran in two 78-member groups via the train.
They visited historical and religious sites of Tabriz, Zanjan, Yazd, Isfahan, Shiraz and Tehran cities and then flew back to Istanbul from Tehran.
With more than 5,500 years of civilization behind it, Iran has a rich and colorful culture.
The countrys architecture, painting, pottery, food, wildlife, beautifully diverse geography, and its welcoming people have always made Iran one of the most favorable tourist destinations in the world.
However, during the past two years, Iran has been receiving an increasing number of tourists from all over the world.
