TEHRAN Jan 25(Shana)--Iran reaped more than 8.8 billion dollars from exporting gas condensate cargoes since the beginning of the current calendar year which started on March 21 2014, up 40% year-on-year, customs data suggests.
Customs chief of Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) Khodadad Rahimi said the country's ten-month export of non-oil items was up 20% in terms of weight and up 18% in terms of value.
He said the country also earned over 17 million dollars from exporting different petrochemicals during the period as well.
The rise in exports comes against the backdrop of Western sanctions against Iran.
Iran�s major exported items comprised liquefied propane, methanol and bitumen and the main export destinations, in descending order, were China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Turkey.
PSEEZ exported 9.5 million tons of gas condensate for 8.3 billion dollars and 17.9 million tons of petrochemical products during the period, added Rahimi.�
Rahimi said the countries to which PSEEZ exports were made included Japan, China, United Arab Emirates, India, Turkey, Iraq, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Armenia, Russia, Mozambique, Egypt, Syria, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Qatar, Tanzania, the Philippines, Ghana, Kenya, Azerbaijan, Georgia, South Korea and Mexico.
PSEEZ is located in southern Iran. It is some 105 kilometers away from the massive offshore South Pars gas field.
