Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA � Iran exported more than 14.5 million tons of cement and clinker from Jan to Aug, 2014, 67.8% of which was cement and the rest clinker, Ministry of Industries, Mines and Commerce said on Wednesday.
It said that 14,500,572 million tons exports of the two items in the nine-month period was comprised of 9,972,166 tons of cement and 4,528,406 tons of clinker.
Meanwhile, in the same period (none months) Iranian cement factories sold 41,428,458 tons of cement inside the country, so that the August exports make up for 11% of the amount.

The total cement sold in the single month of August, 2014, was 4,646,583 tons.

The country's annual cement production is estimated to be 80 million tons a year, which is programmed to reach 120 million tons by the year 2025.

Iraq, Afghanistan and Russia, as well as the African countries are currently Iran's customers for cement and the country's cement exports are expected to reach around 20 million tons by the end of the current Iranian year (1393 � ending on March 20, 2015).

Iran ranks first in cement production in the region and third in the world.

The statistics show that the Iranian cement Industry is 80% indigenous today and the process towards self-sufficiency is of high speed.
