Sharif University of Technology ranks 27th in world top universities

Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA Vice-Chancellor of Sharif University for Research and Technology Masoud Tajrishi said on Tuesday that his university this year ranked 27th in the list of world top universities with less than 50 years of age.
Tajrishi, addressing a ceremony to appreciate top research records in Sharif University this year, said it should be taken as a remarkable success for the university over the past three years.
He said Sharif University of Technology had in 2012 been ranked 68th in the list with less than 50 years passing since its establishment and activity.

He said it reserved 47th slot in 2013 and 27th in 2014, which should be taken as a very good jump which ascended its position by 20 ranks.

The scientific figure said based on statistics printed in the The Times Higher Education, Sharif University of Technology reserved the 42nd rank in the list of Asian top universities and it has been promoted to 37th in 2014.

Sharif University of Technology is one of the largest engineering schools in the Islamic Republic of Iran. It was established in 1966 and now has 300 full-time staff members, about 430 part-time staff and around 8,000 students.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014 list the best global universities and are the only international university performance tables to judge world class universities across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
