Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan[/caption]Pakistans Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has warned against more terrorist attacks by suspected Taliban militants across the militancy-riddled country.
Khan told a press briefing in Islamabad that terrorists seem to be plotting other attacks similar to last weeks massacre at a military-run school in the northwestern city of Peshawar.
The minister gave no more details, but said the entire country has to stay alert.
We are receiving intelligence form across the country that the militants are getting ready for another savage and inhumane counter attack. All of us need to be on the alert, media outlets quoted Khan as saying.
When you are in a state of war, difficulties have to be endured; we must be prepared for any eventuality, he said.
Last Tuesday, a group of pro-Taliban militants stormed a school in the northwestern city of Peshawar and killed 149 people, including 132 children. Some 120 students were also injured in the raid.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the assault, saying it was carried out in retaliation for the Pakistani armys major military offensive in the North Waziristan tribal area, which borders Afghanistan.
The Pakistani army launched an operation against militant hideouts in North Waziristan in June after a deadly raid on Karachi Airport ended the governments faltering peace talks with pro-Taliban militants. The army claims it has killed over 1,600 militants so far, while losing 126 of its own soldiers.
This comes as the Pakistani army is known to be a staunch supporter of the Taliban.
