Syrian premier to visit Iran Tuesday

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi would arrive in Iran on Tuesday to discuss bilateral ties between the two countries as well as main regional and international issues.
He has already visited Iran in December and August 2013, where he had met with Iranian president Hassan Rouhani and other senior Iranian officials.

Iran has always said that it would stand by Syrian government and nation in fighting against the terrorist group of the ISIL.

In recent months, the Syrian army has been liberating a corridor of territory from Damascus to the Mediterranean coast, recapturing towns and villages along the main north-south highway and in the mountainous Qalamoun region along the border with Lebanon.

Syria has been gripped by deadly conflict since 2011. The Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey -- are reportedly supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

More than 191,000 people have so far been killed during more than three years of Takfiri violence in the war-ravaged country.
