TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Danayeefar and Iraq's Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri in a meeting in the Iraqi capital discussed ways for the expansion of bilateral ties.
During the meeting in Baghdad on Monday, Danayeefar and al-Jabouri explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating mutual cooperation.

"The Iraqi parliament speaker and the Iranian ambassador discussed avenues for broadening the relations at different levels in line with the two countries' shared interests," Al-Jabouri's office announced in a statement.

It added that the two sides also discussed growth in economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Iraq as well as paving the way for providing more appropriate conditions during the meeting.

Iran and Iraq have signed several agreements so far to extradite 'convicts and criminals' wanted by the two neighbors.

Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during the 2003 US invasion of the Muslim country.

Last month, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi in a meeting with senior Iraqi officials in Baghdad discussed ways to expand bilateral ties, specially in judicial and legal fields, including swap of prisoners between the two countries.

During the meeting in the Iraqi capital on Sunday, Qashqavi and the Iraqi officials underlined the need for signing an agreement on prisoners' swap.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister was welcomed by his Iraqi counterpart upon his arrival in Baghdad on Sunday.

Qashqavi discussed implementation of previous agreements on judicial affairs, including prisoners' swap.
