MEXICO CITY, Dec. 07 (MNA) Irans Taekwondo national team gained victory in its last competition in group stage of 18th World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships and reached semifinals.In its third contest, Irans Taekwondo national team, with combination of Farzan Ashourzadeh, Mohammad Bagheri-Motamed, Masoud Haji-Zavareh, Farzad Abdollahi, Mehdi Khodabakhsh and Alireza Nasr-Azadani (reserve), defeated Germany 23-8 in a one-sided game.
In its two previous confrontations in the male category, Iran overpowered opponents from Cote dIvoire and the worlds longstanding and traditional Taekwondo champion South Korea reaching semifinals as the first team in Group A.
Iran and South Korea are next to face Mexico and Russia of Group B, winners of which will reach finals.
The 2014World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships organized by theWorld Taekwondo Federation (WTF) started in Mexico on Saturday with the participation of 8 teams. The tournament is to be held over two days.
The participating teams are Mexico, South Korea, Russia, Iran, Germany, France, Cote dIvoire and the United States in the mens division.
