TEHRAN (Tasnim) Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi ruled out special inspections of Irans nuclear facilities.We will not accept any special inspection or process (exclusive to Irans nuclear program), Salehi said Thursday.
Noting that Iran has signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has been implementing its Additional Protocol for two and a half years, he stressed that specific regulations exclusive to Iran are not acceptable.
Slaehi also said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors carry out over 7,000 man-hours of inspecting Iranian facilities and cameras installed at all Iranian nuclear sites monitor them round the clock.
The IAEA has frequently confirmed Irans commitment to an interim nuclear deal it signed with six world powers last year.
Its latest report released in October indicated that the Islamic Republic is continuing to meet its commitments under the interim accord that came into effect in January.
The report said Tehran has taken an additional step under the deal and diluted over 4,100 kg of uranium enriched to a fissile concentration of up to 2 percent down to the level of natural uranium.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - China, Russia, Britain, France, and the United States - plus Germany) clinched a landmark interim deal in the Swiss city of Geneva on November 24, 2013.
Under the Geneva deal, dubbed the Joint Plan of Action, the six countries undertook to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for the Islamic Republic agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period.
The Geneva Agreement expired in July, when the parties decided to extend negotiations until November 24 in the hope of clinching a final accord.
Since Tuesday, senior diplomats from Iran and the G5+1 (alternatively known as P5+1 or E3+3) have launched a new round of talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna to draft a lasting, comprehensive agreement over Tehrans peaceful nuclear program.
