Mashhad, Khorasan, Oct 2, IRNA � Twenty observers will monitor development of saffron value chain in Khorasan Razavi and South Khorasan provinces with the participation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
A saffron expert at Agricultural Jihad Department of Khorasan Razavi said out of the 20 observers three will be employed in South Khorasan and the remaining in Khorasan Razavi provinces.
Rami Esmi told IRNA that within the framework of this joint plan the areas for the implementation of the plan have been specified and people have received the required training. Measures are underway to sign the contact with UNIDO, he noted.

The area under saffron cultivation in Khorasan Razavi is 60 thousand hectares and in South Khorasan 14 thousand hectares of which about 200 tons of saffron is obtained in Khorasan Razavi and 40 tons in the South Khorasan provinces.
