Iran voices doubt over sincerity of US-led coalition against ISIL

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans foreign ministry spokeswoman questioned the sincerity of the US-led coalition against the ISIL terrorist group.
The international coalition against ISIL which came to life after the NATO summit in Wales and is being shaped now, faces serious ambiguities and there is considerable doubt about its sincere and fundamental fight against terrorism, said Marziyeh Afkham.

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a militant group in Iraq and Syria believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries. The terrorist group claims as an independent state the territory of Iraq and Syria, with implied future claims intended over more of the Levant, including Lebanon, occupied Palestine, Jordan, Cyprus, and Southern Turkey.

Some of the countries in this alliance are among the sponsors and supporters of terrorists in Iraq and Syria while some others have failed to take on their international obligations amid hopes of making their favorable political changes in Iraq and Syria, she reiterated.

The Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman also criticized Western countries and their regional allies double standards toward the issue of terrorism and called for an end to what she called instrumental use of extremism.

She blamed biased policies and double standard measures regarding the issue of terrorism as the main reason behind the spread of the ominous phenomenon around the globe.
