TEHRAN (FNA)- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sabah Al-Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah called for the further expansion of ties with Iran."We should have consolidated relations with Iran," the Kuwaiti foreign minister said, addressing the Foreign Ministerial Meeting of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Saturday.
In June, Iran and Kuwait signed six Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in different fields to pave the ground for the further expansion of friendly relations and cooperation between the two Persian Gulf nations.
The agreements were inked in the presence of Irans President Hassan Rouhani and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah in Tehran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Kuwaiti counterpart signed two agreements to enhance cooperation in air transportation and security fields.
Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia and Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Anas al-Khalid al-Saleh inked an accord to strengthen customs cooperation.
The two countries also signed agreements in the fields of sports, tourism and the environment.
Sheikh arrived in Tehran in June to discuss the latest regional and international developments and explore new avenue for consolidating Iran-Kuwait ties in all sectors.
It was the first Tehran visit by Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad as Emir of Kuwait.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, who came to power on January 29, 2006, was officially invited by President Rouhani.
Iran and Kuwait have sought to expand bilateral ties through exchanging several high-ranking delegations in the last few years.
