A scene from Seyyed Reza Mirkarimis dramatic comedy 'A Cube of Sugar'[/caption]Iranian director Seyyed Reza Mirkarimis dramatic comedy A Cube of Sugar has been selected to represent Iranian cinema at the Honolulu Museum of Art.
Mirkarimi's family drama is programmed to be presented at the museum in the state of Hawaii on September 6, 9 and 11.
The museum is renowned for keeping a large collection of Asian arts, especially Japanese and Chinese works.
A Cube of Sugar recounts the story of a family who lives in an old Iranian city and their attempts in dealing with different problems and incidents.
The film was selected for the 2013 Oscar's foreign-language film submission by Iranian cinema selection committee.
The movie was screened at the 2013 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (JDIFF) in Ireland as well as the World Greats Section of the 35th Montreal International film festival in August, 2011.
Mirkarimi's family drama was also presented at the 2011 edition of Busan International film festival in South Korea and the 17th Vilnius International Film Festival in Lithuania.
The movie also represented Iran at the 2012 edition of Off Plus Camera Festival in Poland.
Born in 1966, screenwriter and director Mirkarimi has received prizes in several domestic and international festivals.
Under the Moonlight (2001), The Child and the Soldier (2001), So Close, So Far(2005) and As Simple as That (2008) are among Mirkarimi's better known works.
