Irans President Hassan Rouhani and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani have expressed their profound condolences over the tragic passenger plane crash in the capital, Tehran.An Iranian passenger plane crashed on Sunday moments after takeoff from the International Mehrabad Airport, killing at least 39 people and seriously injuring nine others, IRNA reported.
The Antonov An-140, a turboprop regional airliner operated by Sepahan Air, wastravelingfrom Tehran to the northeastern desert city of Tabas.Forty-eightpeople, among them several children, were on board the plane when it smashed into the ground and burst into flames upon impact.
Addressing the Cabinet session on Sunday, President Rouhani expressed his grief at the deadly incident and wished the bereaved families patience and good health for the wounded.

The Iranian president also urged Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Ahmad Akhoundi to prepare a thorough report on the incident.
In a separate condolence message, the Iranian Majlis speaker urged Civil Aviation Organization and other relevant organizations to determine the cause of the incident and announce the results.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Initial reports blame engine failure for the disaster.
