TEHRAN July 12 (Shana)--Iran has added 12 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers in order to export more products, an aide to Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said.
�Mohammad Souri said Iran could not export LPG and petrochemical products sufficiently in the past years due to shortage of LPG carriers.



�Now, with the purchase of 12 vessels, it is possible to export these products,� he said.
Souri said until recently Iran had only eight vessels for carrying LPG and petrochemical products.

�We hope that the export of these products will increase although we are still facing shortages,� he said.
National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) eyes selling 1 billion dollars of LPG.

LPG, also referred to as simply propane or butane, is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as a fuel in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles.

It is increasingly used as an aerosol propellant and a refrigerant, replacing chlorofluorocarbons in an effort to reduce damage to the ozone layer. When specifically used as a vehicle fuel it is often referred to as autogas.
