Iran wheelchair b-ballers suffer successive defeat

Iran men's national wheelchair basketball team has suffered its second loss in a row at the 2014 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships in South Korea, being beaten by the Netherlands.
The Iranian outfit lost the Sunday match held at the Samsan World Sports Complex in South Koreas northwestern city of Incheon, located about 70 kilometers (43 miles) west of the capital Seoul, 48-42 to the Dutch.

On Saturday, the Iranians were defeated 66-45 in their opening match against Spain.

Iran will play Japan in its next group stage match on Monday.

The 2014 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships started in Incheon on July 5, and will run until July 14.

A total of 320 athletes from 16 countries are competing in the tournament -- making it the largest event in its history. Sixteen teams are divided into four groups of four each.

Paralympic silver medalists Australia are looking to retain their men's world title at the 2014 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships.

In group A, European Champions Britons have a tough task on their hands. They face Mexico, Argentina and South Korea.

Spain, who finished third at the European Championships, has been pitted against the Netherlands, Iran and Japan in group B.

Elsewhere, in group C the United States has also found itself in a tough group as it faces Turkey - silver medalists at the European Championships in 2013 Colombia and Algeria.

In the quest to retain its title, Australia has been drawn against tough European opponents in group D.

Australian wheelchair basketball player face Italians, who finished fourth at the last World Championships in 2010, Swedes, who narrowly missed out on bronze at the European Championships in 2010, and Germans, who finished sixth at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
